Old Church   OtterbournePlus    HampshirePlus

Detailed Description

There is now only the outline of the Old medieval parish church of St. Matthew able to be seen on the main road out of Otterbourne. It is represented by gravel laid out on the ground in the shape of the plan of the old church. The nave was demolished in 1836 and the chancel in 1971. The churchyard is now managed by the Otterbourne conservation group. A train line passes next to the site and the main road goes nearby otherwise it is surrounded by fields. There are a couple of benches, a sign and some grave stones cluttered around but other than that the site is grass and foliage.
